We are mixed-gender, open age, friendly club.
We have paddlers who are keen to participate in regattas and others who just want to get fit and have fun without the pressure of competition - we have plenty of room for all motivations.
Three sessions are scheduled per week. Currently these are held on:
Tuesdays and Fridays at 6.15am and
Sundays at 7.15am.
A minimum of eight people (paddlers, sweep and coach combined) is required for
paddling to go ahead as that many are required to launch the small boat.
Paddlers are advised to check the Paddle Session page on this site, on the morning of each session
(a) to determine if any late cancellations mean that the numbers are not sufficient for paddling and
(b) to ensure that there is a Sweep's name entered on the roster.
If numbers are insufficient OR if there is no Sweep, the paddle session is cancelled.
Poor weather conditions can also mean a session has to be cancelled.
Each session starts with 15 minutes for warm up and getting the boat in the water. We then paddle for about 1 hour and allow another 15 mins for getting the boat back on land and some warm down exercises.
For administrative purposes, paddlers are asked to 'sign on' when they attend a paddle session, and to ensure that there are funds available to purchase necessary maintenance items etc., paddlers pay $2 each time they paddle.
How did we decide on our club name?
